Application categories for RuStore
Here is general information about what apps fall into each category, as well as examples for clarity. Carefully read the category list before selecting a category for your uploaded app and submitting it for moderation.
How to assign a category
- Open the RuStore Console.
- Click the "Applications" tab.
- Click "Add an App".
- Select the type of your application in the "Type" section: a non-game app or a game. The non-game apps are located on the main page of the RuStore on the "Applications" tab, and the games are on the "Games" tab.
- In the drop-down list, select the main category for your application, taking into account its features. The application will be placed in the selected category on the store.
- Select an additional category whenever required. The application will be placed in two categories on the store at once.
You can select two categories for an app - main and additional: the most relevant one is indicated in the main category, and there may be no additional category. If you are unsure about your choice, look at the list of categories below.
Support specialists will correct the app category at the moderation stage.
Pay attention to the “Requirements” column: it contains requirements and clarifications that must be taken into account when assigning categories.
Moderators are also guided by the requirements. These rules help us set up the correct results in categories and ensure fair placement of all apps in the RuStore.
Provide only relevant categories for your app as directed to ensure the publishing process is as fast and efficient as possible and makes it easier for users to find your app.
App categories
- Business services
Description: Internal services for company employees, including training and tools for doing business - accounting, logistics, HR/purchasing management, CRM. Special tools - door measurers, applications for taxi and truck drivers, couriers, etc. Apps that monetize ad viewing or other ways to earn money.
Requirements: Do not assign apps in this category the additional "Useful Tools" category. Applications for couriers, taxi drivers and other transport do not need to be further categorized as “Transport”. Apps for business are assigned the main category “Finance”, and “Business Services” can be specified as an additional category.

- Government
Description: Apps of departments, as well as services for paperwork, accounting and payment of taxes, online records in departments and MFCs, social government programs.
Requirements: The category is included only by apps from government developers.

- Food & Drink
Description: Apps for cafes and restaurants, food and grocery delivery services, table reservations, collections of recipes.
Requirements: Do not specify the additional “Purchases” category.

- Domino’s Pizza.
- Medical
Description: Pharmacy applications, services for searching and making an appointment with a doctor or psychologist, searching and ordering medications, apps for rest and relaxation, diets and nutrition control, health, sleep and habit trackers.
Requirements: Fitness and home workout apps fall under the Sports category - do not list the Health category as an additional category. For pharmacies, do not assign an additional “Shopping” category, and for health trackers, you do not need to specify a “Lifestyle” category.

- Books
Description: Books, including religious books, comics, and audiobooks.
Requirements: Apps with children's fairy tales belong to the “Parents” category. Additionally, you can attach the “Books” device to them.

- News
Description: News portals and city news services, apps for cities or regions with a news section, event posters and purchasing tickets for events.

- Lifestyle
Description: Hobbies and interests, religion and esotericism, horoscopes, psychological and other non-professional tests, handicrafts, postcards and congratulations, demotivators and pictures.
Requirements: For religious books and audiobooks, assign the main category “Books”. Do not assign an additional “Lifestyle” category to health trackers, women’s calendars and other apps from the “Health” category. For bicycle and scooter rental services from the “Transport” category, you can additionally specify the “Lifestyle” category.

- Education
Description: Apps for professional education, pupils and students, services for learning foreign languages, training courses, professional certifications and tests.
Requirements: Apps for studying traffic rules and learning to drive vehicles must be included only in the “Transport” category. For electronic student diaries, you can additionally select the “For Parents” category.

- Communication
Description: Social networks and blogs, messengers, dating services.
Requirements. Don't add an additional "Entertainment" category to dating apps. Do not indicate the additional category “Useful tools” to messengers. Social networks with the option to search/play/create visual or audio content can be given an additional “Entertainment” category. For video calls and conferences, assign the main category “Useful tools”, and you can add “Communication” as an additional category.

- Ads and services
Description: Services with advertisements and search for specialists, delivery of items and cargo, courier services, apps for beauty salons, dry cleaners, cleaning services, repairs and other services.
Requirements: Do not provide apps with the additional “Purchases” category. For courier services, you can additionally select the “Transport” category.

- Pets
Description: Services for making appointments and online consultations with veterinarians, free campaigns to find animals and support shelter pets, apps for studying animal breeds.

- Dog breeds;
- Animal Search;
- In good hands.
- Shopping
Description: Apps for stores and marketplaces, services for shopping lists, discounts and cashback.
Requirements: For pharmacies, select only the “Health” category. For food and grocery delivery, restaurant and cafe apps, select only the “Food and Drinks” category. For apps with advertisements for sale, select only the "Ads and Services" category.

Description: Apps for working with documents, task scheduler, communications and Internet, video calls and video conferences. Apps for smart home and housing, communal services payments from management companies. Photo and video editors, wallpapers and widgets for your phone, weather, flashlights, keyboards, utilities and etc.
Requirements: For messengers, select only the “Communication” category. Tools for doing business (CRM, accounting, etc.) belong to the “Business services” category. Do not include the additional "Useful Tools" category. Each app is a useful tool; we do not recommend overloading this category.

- Travel
Description: Apps for tourists, services for purchasing tickets and tours, high-quality hotels, rental housing, tourist navigators, excursions.
Requirements: Do not specify the additional category “Transport” for services for purchasing tickets and tours. For tourist navigators with maps, you can additionally select the “Transport” category.

- Entertainment
Description: Apps for listening to music and radio, TV channels and video services, online cinemas, karaoke, streaming apps, games, buying cinema and theater tickets, organizing events and other entertainment, other entertainment services that does not apply to other categories.
Don't select the "Entertainment" category for games. RuStore has separate categories for them.
Requirements: For audiobooks, select the main category “Books”. For apps that broadcast sports matches, in addition to the main “Sports” category, you can specify an additional “Entertainment” category. For social networks with the option to search/play/create visual or audio content, in addition to the main category “Communication”, you can specify an additional category “Entertainment”. Don't specify the additional "Entertainment" category to dating apps.

- For parents
Description: Apps for children and parents, trackers and locators of children, services for pregnancy and child development, breastfeeding diaries, lullabies and white noise for sleep.
Requirements: For children's fairy tales, choose the main category “For Parents” and the additional category “Books”. For electronic student diaries, select the main category “Education”. Additionally, you can select the “Parents” category.

- Sport
Description: Apps for sports clubs and fitness centers, services for news and broadcasts of sports, training and fitness.
Requirements: For betting apps, select only the “Betting and Lotteries” category. Don't give workouts and fitness apps the additional "Health" category. For apps that broadcast sports matches, you can additionally specify the “Entertainment” category.

- Bets and lotteries
Description: Apps with lotteries and sports betting.
Requirements: Do not indicate bookmaker offers and lotteries of any additional categories.

- 1xStavka— sports betting;
- Stoloto.
- Transport and navigation
Description: Taxi, car sharing and ridesharing services, apps for drivers and passengers, maps and navigators, services for tracking public transport and replenishing travel tickets, services for renting scooters and bicycles, as well as apps for studying traffic rules and training driving vehicles, MTPL and CASCO insurance.
Requirements: For apps for studying traffic rules and learning to drive other vehicles, you do not need to indicate the “Education” category. For parcel and cargo delivery apps, courier services, select the main category “Ads and Services”. Additionally, you can specify the “Transport” category for them.
You can also specify the additional category “Transport” for tourist navigators with maps. Do not specify the additional “Transport” category for services for purchasing tickets and tours; classify them only in the “Travel” category. Do not provide apps for taxi drivers, transport company employees, and couriers with the additional “Transport” category. Classify them only under the “Business Services” category. Bicycle and scooter rental services can additionally be specified as a “Lifestyle” category.

- Finance
Description: Apps for banks and financial organizations, services for accounting for expenses and budgetary expenses, money transfers, loans and credit cards.
Requirements:
Do not assign the "Finance" definition to apps that monetize ad views and other processing methods - such apps are classified as "Business Services".
Banking apps for business can include “Business Services” as an additional category.

Game categories
All games are prohibited from: realistic scenes of violence, abundance of profanity, shocking and offensive content, promotion of hatred, violence or discrimination against groups of people based on ethnicity, religion, gender, age and sexuality, statements of a defamatory nature or statements that insult the honor and dignity, other content that violates the legislation of the Russian Federation.
- Arcade
Description: Games for quickly solving virtual problems. Players must act quickly and accurately, receiving bonuses for successful decisions: points, new skills for characters or elements of the game world, and etc.

Description: Finding answers to questions in a limited amount of time from different areas of knowledge: riddles with words and quizzes. Tasks are given to players in text, graphic or audio format.

Description: The gameplay offers players solving puzzles of varying complexity: selecting matching elements and searching for logical sequences.

Description: Players will have to drive various vehicles and exchange messages with bots or other players in high-speed passage of various tracks.

Description: Using augmented reality to transfer part of the gameplay from the virtual to the real world. They use surrounding elements to help the player complete various tasks.

- Indie
Description: Game projects created by independent authors and small teams without the help of publishers.

Description: Simulators of popular casino games: poker, slots, roulette and etc. The player will have to score the maximum number of points or virtual currency.

Description: Games that children and parents can play together. They feature simple plots and tasks, as well as intuitive controls.

Description: Imitation of sports games and discipline. The player will have to become a team member, coach or manager.

Description: Games in which the player has to interact with opponents or dangerous objects. He will be in the center of the plot and fight with enemies.
